Pilooski seems to have caught the Mark Ronson bug – take an old song, jazz it up and hey presto! album sales through the roof. Except someone forgot to mention it had to be a catchy song in the first place. No disrespect to Frankie Valli nor The Four Seasons (or however many are now left); the original Motown song undoubtedly had its appeal - but not as a dance track. This new mix also fails to take into account basic problems of sampling old records: they’re old, and they’re records. Despite miracles of music technology, this sounds grainy and far from best. Clubbers are move likely to cover their ears than move their feet. A record more repetitive and tiresome than a job licking envelopes.
